I'd like to say I play games but I've not loaded one in well over a year, so gaming performance isn't too important.

It'll be used with two inputs. My main PC which I use for the usual web stuff, plus additionally spreadsheet/trading etc stuff. It's useful to have several windows visible at the same time. Also my work thinkpad which will do up to 3840x2160. Again it's useful to have several windows visible, spreadsheets, remote terminals, etc. I think both will be display port connections but the thinkpad might start off at HDMI as it's only the dock that does displayport.

I've been looking at a curved Philips 40" but I'm not especially precious about it (I'd prefer the bezel black too!)

I'm on a 24 inch just now and very long overdue an improvement. I'd considered multiple monitors but this seems to do it all.

My understanding of the difference between what I have now and the new monitor is that it'll be, as far as pixels are concerned, 4x the size. It could (not quite) display 4 of the same image I currently see.

It'd be about 1 2/3 the size of my current monitor - so not quite double the length/breadth so overall about 2.5 times the size of my current screen.

It also has a 100mm vesa mount so it'll go straight on my wall.

Is there anything else I should be thinking about? Are there any other monitors that might be a better fit for me? Money isn't a big deal as long as I feel there's value in spending more then I'm happy to.

Interesting - I'll give that a look. I've come across a few terms, g sync, quantum dot, HDR - are any of them relevant to me?

I'll give that thread a read and see where I'm at afterwards. I used to have the time to fully investigate every little part I bought and build it all but these days I need to get on with it :)

Thanks!

What a brilliant mistake :)

I think the 40 inches will be probably as big as I would want to go in this room. It looks like the TV is the right move for me, next I need to puzzle out inputs, VESA mounting, sound.
