Spec me a leather jacket

Well, my other option was laughing at your utterly appauling fashion sense, but I thought I'd play nice.

Oh so you were being a troll? Isnt that a bannable offence? no one else seems to mind and if they did they havent posted. Good to see i have wasted some of your time making you reply to the thread.

That has got to be the worst flame attempt. Ever. With that cutting edge wit, a terrible tattoo and a leather jacket I bet you're a right hit with the ladies.

Sorry but I really have to laugh at this. At first I thought, "fair play, he's recommending that you don't go with a so-called 'designer' leather jacket", then he links to some Superdry jackets. :D

Leather jackets are NOT about brand names, whether it's Superdry or Versace, it's about getting some decent leather in a timeless design which will last you 10 years or more and look cooler as it ages - you definitely don't want one with a daft metal badge on it displaying a brand name. If you buy a decent leather jacket, people will know you paid a lot of money for it, you don't need a sign to highlight the fact. As for Bench being "out of fashion", that gets another LOL. The fact that you follow "fashion" is enough to ignore your advice from the off. Personal style is what you're after, not whatever rubbish the brand names are telling you to wear this season.

http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com would be a good start for the uneducated.

PS: Those Superdry jackets are foul, horrible mid-length things which won't look cool in a few months (not that they ever did). If you're planning on dropping £200 on a leather jacket, you want something timeless, not "in fashion". That's a rubbish military style jacket only in leather instead of cotton. If you want that look, get yourself to the surplus store and pick a proper one up for a few quid.

I can understand the appeal of spending lots of money on label fashion, because you don't need to think about what look you're going for, they do it for you. But then you look like everyone else, and you've spent a LOAD of money on one item when you could've bought different items for every day of the week. That's not to say I don't spend a lot of money on particularly nice branded items, but doing it as a matter of course is just silly. Also, style is about subtlety, not wearing a big garish label that says "LOOK AT ME, I SPENT LOADS OF MONEY ON THIS JACKET". The people you really want to impress will know how much you've thought about what you're wearing anyway.

But maybe that's just me.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm definitely recommending you spend at least £200 on a leather jacket, just don't waste it on a low quality branded one when you could get a really decent one without 'designer' labels.

Superdry is the most overworn brand you can lay your hands on right now, it'll be just the same as bench within a year, all over tkmaxx, so I wouldn't get snobby just yet mate, its hardly cutting edge

I was just flicking through the new ASOS catalogue/magazine thing actually (just arrived this morning), and on the back page is a big Superdry ad :p

Also, I've just noticed your mockery of the thought of Bench as a "designer" label. Superdry is hardly high fashion, is it? I'd personally lump them all in the same group - low quality, overly priced rubbish. If you're going to pay top dollar, pay for quality and a good fit, not a bloody badge.

Is that aimed at me? I wouldnt get the Bench one, I just said it looked good lol. You wouldnt be able to tell it was from Bench if you saw someone with it on in the street apart from if it said Bench on it.

Most bench stuff says BENCH written massively across it somewhere, so you probably would :p

Besides £160 for a Bench item is a rip off :\
