Nothing more than looking after a caravan and associated paraphernalia (Hair Dryer, lights, cooking, etc).

Diesel and quiet, ideally.

Budget not too much of an issue.

None are quiet. They annoy everyone near by. Live without the microwave.

It's not like you have to live next to your neighbours for more than a week - **** 'em.

OP - choose any Honda unit that matches your output requirements and you wont go far wrong.

Admittedly, doesn't need to be diesel. Petrol would be quieter and smoother I assume.

So I'm thinking 3KW to accommodate the hairdryer (which is 1400w) and anything else that might be on and allow some overhead?

It's not like the hairdryer will be on all the time - I would budget to have enough to cover that, with a little headroom, and just not boil the kettle at the same time.

The bigger, the heavier, the more fuel. It still runs with her hairdryer but it certainly is struggling, she can use it on warm just not hot as the sun mode :p

It'll run the day to day stuff all very easily just not the energy heavy items on full blast.

It was hilarious watching her plug her straighteners in whilst we were on battery. She literally had no idea about 12v and 240v differences :p:p

I have a Honda EU20i. 2000w peak, 1600w constant. It has 2 x 240v and 1 x 12v output. Starts easily and is pretty quiet on eco throttle.

It's about the size of a large cool box that you might take to the beach or something.

You sure you need to make the outlay? Most decent caravan sites will have electric hookups?

We've got by fine with (variously) hairdryer, straighteners, TV etc running from that.
