Hi all,

Ive just finished my first year at uni and am back home for the summer. Life is going great but im going to get bored very quickly!

Here is the situation...

I work for my dad on broad street 3 or 4 times a week normally starting at about 12/1/2pm and finishing and getting home at 1/2am. All the other days im pritty much free. So the mornings before work and the 3/4 days i have off work obvioulsy ammount to a lot of free time.

I am lucky in a sense that im allowed to have friends over my house, mum and dad dont moan and town centre is very close to the house. So going to the pub with the lads or inviting a few of them up for a game of poker is easy done.

However i have been going out for the best part of 2 years now so its repeatative expencive and bad for body (i dont wana get fat)! There is only a certain ammount of poker games or bbq's you can have with the same few guys before it gets boring.

I dont really have any hobbies. I used to love warhammer years back but thats expencive so i dont want to get back into that. I like watching some things on tv but sky one has gone total crap lately. I also love playing pc games but i am having major problems with pc at the moment so untill its up and running i cant do that either. Even when it is, i dont really want to spend my free summer time sitting on the pc. A hour a day or so is not so bad but i dont want pc games to be my main hobby as its obvioulsy bad for your eyes and a little antisocial!

So what can i do? Spec me a life, spec me a hobby!

(I have a gf but for reasons that id rather not go into as i cant be bothered to write another paragraph i only get to see her about once every week or two).

So i need some ideas to bulk up my free time. I dont have a lot of money and already spend way to much so cheap is good!

I'm going to openly admit my own geekiness, and suggest tabletop roleplay. If you enjoyed Warhammer, then you'll probably enjoy other forms of gaming.

I see where you are comming from but they are very expencive and not really a summer thing to do. So i really dont want to get back into this. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I shall try and get through a book a week.

Join a gym?

Learn a skill?

I'd love to have as much free time as you.

I am a member at fitness first. I go about 3/4 times a week but this only kills about 2 hours.

Learn a skill? Like what? I am learing bar work (proper bar work as my dad has a posh resteraunt)

I know i have a lot of free time and i am lucky but thats why i am here writing this. I want to fill it and not look back and think i wasted it!

She wont have me yet, were only 19! :p
I dont want to be working more than the 30/40 hours a week i already do!
Whats the bold and the beautiful?!
I hate cooking! I always burn somthing! And its to hot for cooking!
Mum will go mad if i do that!

How about joining the gym, start swimming or go jogging. None are terribly expensive either.

Well the gym might be but the others certainly arn't.

What do you currently spend your money on?

Could cut down a little, save up and buy a bike and just go riding or something.

All the above will also keep you healthy as well (as long as you eat well as well obviously) and leaves room for still going out quite often (money permitting obviously) and it all keeps you busy as well.

Swimming as well as the gym and buying a cheapo bike is on the list! Thanks buddy.

I could, but i dont think that would benift me at all really and i would get bored after a while as im not realy interested in software and programming. Hardware i love, software i hate!

See, this spec me a hobby/life is harder than it seems! I have already thought of a lot of stuff that people will say and either ruled it out or put it on my list. Im looking for new things now.

I am learning to drive, got my test in 2 weeks so hopefully if i pass that will help with doing new things.

My town has nothing in it, not even a cinima. So at the moment, cinima, bowling, paintballing ect are all a bit of a mission!

Ah you see, once you get your licence your problem will be solved :)

But a really cheap banger of a car now and strip it down to nothing and take the engine apart and learn to put it all back together again :)

That way when you get your car you will be able to look after it better and you might even be able to sell the old banger for even more then you bought it for if you fix a few things up and make it run better

And would you like to run this part my father and tell him i will be taking up space on his drive!! Go on, i dare you! :p

ok i have a few options for you.

I have roll with 2 of them, and no i dont mean 2 girlfriends lol 1 is enough for me.

1 :- Get another girlfriend, finish with the one you have at present, unless you want to run 2 at a time and have no free time at all. depending on the type of lass you get, she could be the clingy see me all the time type.

2:- Get into world of warcraft, you will then soon lose track of time, and find work gets in the way of lvling up.

3:- Go with said girlfriend to Ikea, i seemed to have lost 4 hours of my life in no time when in there last night lol. went in at 8, next thing i know its midnight.

Wouldnt dream of finishing with my gal, i dont get to see her a lot but when i do its great, and i love her to bits.

Warcraft? Needs a monthly subscription doesnt it?

And IKEA?! Thats just crazy!

I did karate for a few years when i was a kid so dont wana do what i have done and stopped doing before. I might look into boxing though.
