I've got a case that can take a M-ITX Mobo. So my main plan is to build a rig to run something like Ubuntu or Mint on.

I want to remain budget I will probably get RAM from the MM etc. But still put it in the spec. Main uses will be messing about and collecting dust. :DDD

Spec away

Onboard graphics are needed.

Unless you want something passive then this one

Throw in 4gb of cheap DDR3 and a harddrive and jobs a good un, got a 160gb western digital sat here collecting dust and your local ;)

Would something like this suffice:

Also is the HDD 2.5" - Thats all I can use.

To the mods: I am not discussing a sale I am just generally asking

I'd go with an intel build.

Even though the M1s are great boards and the APUs pretty decent, the drivers aren't great under linux. Main issue I found with them is the network adapter suddenley disappears. Not useful in a server :(

Good point. totally forgot about the lack of support for amd/ati on linux.

so its either an atom board or something like a second hand i3 530 and h55/p55 mitx board.
