I have cable and adsl and I want to have them load balanced.

I bought a Draytek Vigor 2820n that has ADSL2+, Wifi and dual wan but after hours of messing around I still can't get it to work and to be honest it hasn't really impressed me so I am returning it.

Its a shame as having the ADSL and Wifi built in it was handy all in 1 box.

I don't think there are any others available that do it all so I was looking at the Netgear FVS124G http://www.netgear.co.uk/firewall_gigabit_connectivity_fvs124g.php and thinking I could use an access point for wifi and getting a Sky ADSL modem for the O2 connection.

Anyone know of any alternatives?

Could someone spec me a good access point too? I think I have one I could try but I'm not sure how good it is.

Thanks

Hmmm I guess thats my own fault for not giving you a budget :p

Budget up to £160 please, preferably closer to £100 as is the above Netgear.

Ok I have found this http://www.edimax.co.uk/en/produce_detail.php?pd_id=49&pl1_id=3&pl2_id=20

The Edimax BR-6624

High availability with double bandwidth For small-to-medium size business, Load Balancer is the ideal product. With Load Balancer, up to 253 users are connected to the Internet with Double Broadband Speed.

All the other companies (Netgear, Linksys, Billion and Zyxel) said it isn't possible but Edimax say this will do it, worth a shot I think.

Does anyone have any opinions on Edimax?

How did you come to that conclusion, the Netgear router linked in your OP advertises itself as doing load balancing.

What are you expecting from load balancing by the way?

Yes but it doesn't double the bandwidth like the Edimax is meant to do, I'm not sure it really will tbh but they say it will even though all the others said its not possible.

What you are looking for is share band which hasn’t been introduced into the market yet. Please keep checking our sites for updates but unfortunately we do not have a solution for you at the moment.

Yes or Newsleecher to pull down files at 3mb/s

I'm asking the impossible aren't I? I have heard of people doing though.

Yes you are asking the impossible. You may have heard of bonded ISDN or ADSL connections, where a single ISP bonds two or more connections at their end and you use suitable hardware at yours. You certainly can't bond your VM cable and o2 ADSL connections.

Newsleecher probably would load balance if you used more than one connection (as in TCP).
True, I guess the load balancing router might well spread the multiple connections to your news server across both internet connections.
