Hello,

I will be in need of a long range mouse and gaming controller in the near future as I'm moving home and my PC will be set up upstairs and I have my 4K TV downstairs.

Basically, the house is pretty small and so it won't be much of an issue to run a good quality HDMI cable from my PC, down to the TV and play games on it that way (I'm reluctant to use a steam link or Nvidia shield as not all my games run through steam and also I've heard of input lag).

The problem I will have is that, whilst I am sat downstairs and won't be that far away from the PC (probably 10-15 feet if you drew a line) I obviously will need to use a mouse to select whatever game I wish to play before I'm able to use a controller input. To that end, I need an inexpensive (as possible) wireless mouse with a decent range.

Likewise, I will need a wireless controller with a decent range. I currently use an Xbox one controller but I've heard the wireless adaptor for it offer poor range? I also am not aware of a really long cable for this.

I'm open to a Steam controller or even a PS4 one but just need one with a decent range and also widely compatible with current games. Most auto detect and use the Xbox controller seamlessly.

Also, both the mouse and the controller would need to be able to penetrate the ceiling, it's a new build so it's wafer thin, so to speak.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

OK, seeing as nobody knows of any....

Would purchasing a USB extension cable (few metres in length) and connecting a wireless dongle for the Xbox one controller to solve the range issue from the PC to where I'd be sat, work? As in, does anyone know if the dongle would work through such a cable? I'm assuming it would as surely a USB extension cable would be just the same as plugging the adaptor straight into a USB port on the PC itself?

Yes that would work. Sorry that nobody has been much help! :p

Personally I've never tested the range of any wireless products I've owned.

All of the newer controllers support bluetooth and will pair with any unrestricted bluetooth device (not the ps4, lol)
Basically all of the controllers released after the Xbox One S, with the front portion of the controller being one piece. The older ones had glossy plastic at the front top.
