Hey all,

After using windows for my whole life, i've decided to make the big switch!
My mum has an iBook and i am starting to fall in love with it.
I would like you to spec me a nice desktop Mac (I'm a n00b with mac hardware - ok with the software side of it).
What I would like:

Vista Support via Boot Camp
80GB minimum HDD (preferably 120GB)
1GB RAM (512 if need be and if upgradable)
17" Screen

Thanks guys and guls

EDIT: btw, i'm a student with a NUS Extra card and i also only have a saturday job so not too expensive please :)

The iMac is your choice:

2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x512MB
160GB Serial ATA drive
Keyboard (English) & Mighty Mouse + Mac OS X (English)
17-inch TFT display
8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD±RW, CD-RW)
ATI Radeon X1600 graphics with 128MB GDDR3 memory
AirPort Extreme (wireless)
Bluetooth 2.0

£799 all in but as a student you will get a discount! :)

There is a cheaper model but that has integrated graphics so Vista will really struggle. That spec is fantastic value for money and will last you a good few years.

Yes, please make sure you get a configuration that has 1Gb memory minimum. OS X will fly when it has plenty of memory to play with.

I'd say the 17" iMac is fine.. but if you can stretch I'd say go with a 20" model.

The 17" has always looked small to me.. and with the larger screen real estate you can be more productive :)

I am not sure that a MacBook will be man enough to run Vispants? A macBook Pro will be but they are big bucks.

He probably won't care about Vista by the time it comes out anyway :p
