So chaps, seeming everything else I have is gamer-graded, I need to get something that steps up my game in the land of keyboards!I used to have an older Logitech gaming keyboard (can't even remember the model of it), it since died and I have been using a generic Logitech slimline keyboard since and it is horrible..

I'm looking for a good mechanical keyboard. It must be backlit, media controls are a bonus. My budget is approx £100. I've been looking at these keyboards..
Open to other suggestions and feedback.. My usage will be split between 50/50 general typing and gaming.

I have a SteelSeries G6V2, which I like.
It doesn't have backlighting however.

Razer have questionable build quality, I love their mice, but the new synapse drivers suck.

Might want to have a look at the QPAD MK-85 on offer right now at OCUK. Built like a tank and types like a dream.

This - without a doubt the QPAD MK-85 is the sturdiest keyboard that I have ever had. I upgraded from a Logitech G15. The cherry-red switches are fantastic for just about everything in my opinion. Plus with the weight of the MK-85 if someone annoys you then smacking them with this beast will render them sufficiently owned.

I have the BlackWidow (2012) - beautiful keyboard, couldn't recommend it enough.

Only problem I've heard about the Qpad MK-85 is that the LEDs stay on when the PC is switched off? Not sure if this will be a problem for me, as I have my PC plugged into an Energenie socket that switches off the whole extension bar 1 (the router) when it detects no power is being drawn. Not sure exactly how it does this, as my current keyboard's NUM lock stays on when switched off, but the extension still turns off within 1/2 minutes.

The K90 is looking rather spiffing and have eyed that for a while, but the only problem is not all the keys are mechanical, plus it looks massive compared to the others.. I'm semi-limited with desk space as my dual 24" monitors take up most of it. Plus I wouldn't take advantage of the many macro keys it has.

I'm mainly looking towards the CM Storm Trigger and the Gigabyte Osmium. The GB is fully backlit and mechanical, few nice macro keys.. GB has me sold currently after watching a few YT vids..

I also have a Mk-85. The LEDs go off when I shut down the computer. They are expensive but I would recommend one.

Oh the only issue I have with it is the software that it is supplied with, it stops the media keys (play, pause, skip) from working with iTunes. But if you close the software from the system tray they work again.

Not sure if I want to lamp £120+ on a keyboard tbh.. It's bad enough I'm happy to spend circa £100.. Making it more around that mark or less would make the hit on the bank account feel a little happier and cushion the blow a touch.. :p

Are you in a hurry for one?

If not just sit and wait for it to pop up in the Today / This Week Only offers, I only paid £95 for mine from OCUK just over a month ago.

Yeah I'm kinda in a hurry, I'm hating this keyboard!

Too late anyway, I've gone for it and ordered one. :D Fml, can't believe I somehow justified and hit Confirm Order on a £120 odd keyboard.. Better be bloody worth it!! :p
