I have a pc that I use as a media server, streaming media using Plex over LAN, and also over the net when I'm travelling. It has 5 GPU's in it now, and is being used for mining. It's getting to the stage where one purpose is having an impact on the other, so...

I'm looking to build a separate box to store and stream my media using Plex. I don't have a budget in mind, but I'm not expecting it to be costing the earth given the purpose of it.

I have a gaming system that I use for all my encoding, so this new media server won't need a CPU with encoding capability. I expect it will do a bit of converting when I'm saving to my android phone, but I won't be streaming to the phone so it can take as long as it wants to encode.

No need for HDD, just an SSD to house the OS - Linux.

Any suggestions on hardware appreciated. Thanks.

Not 100% sure if the Pentium will handle absolutely all your media needs, now and in the near future, but if it probably will then why spend more right now, is what I'm thinking.

Case can be placed horizontally or vertically, and is also available in black.

P.S. Bloody gorgeous 540 Air you have. :)
