I'm looking around for a laptop that can replace my desktop as a media centre/HTPC.

It will need a HDMI port, a decent hard drive (500GB+), i3/i5 processor (to be able to stream 3D blu ray films to my 3D TV) and maybe a blu ray drive. Not bothered about graphics card as I won't be gaming on it but aren't intergerated graphics better for video encoding/viewing anyway?

Refurbished would be ideal as it will be a lot cheaper. Not bothered about which make it is as long as it's reliable.

Just out of interest why are you getting rid of the HTPC?
Is it a dedicated HTPC or just your general desktop?

It was my 3/4 year old Q6600 desktop computer, it's far too loud and big for the living room and only has a 320GB hard drive which is 1/4 of what I need. Also only has a VGA/DVI output which isn't really ideal for a modern HTPC.

A laptop would be a perfect replacement for this, I needed a portable media device anyway (I've been debating on getting a tablet). So hopefully there's something out there.

Anyone know any good models?

Well I've had 2 Dell XPS's now and both have been fantastic machines have HDMI, no problems with playing anything.

However, apart from the portable aspect you really should check out the HTPC's that you can get now. They are epic!
