Spec me a Media Player

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could spec me a media player please :D

Requirements are (in order of importance)

Full Plex Support (inc *cough* local pms channel support *cough*) inc connecting to a cloud based pms server

Custom DNS servers

Netflix

Amazon Instant (im already a prime member, and although I think the selection is dire, it's a shame not to have access to something I'm kinda paying for)

The manufacturer won't abandon it after 12 months, leaving it stuck on old versions of apps

The box has to be fast, I hate lag! and it has to work properly. I simply don't have the time for beta testing products these days. Not fussed about having a box or a stick, but if I had to chose it would be the box simply because the wifi-direct remotes are riddled with bugs.

Not interested in playing games on it, or connecting usb sticks for local media. Everything will be cloud, or from a local plex server

I'm starting to lean more towards the fire tv it has to be said

Most reviews seem to indicate that if you are not gaming, get the stick? I have a gaming pc and xbox one, so I won't be gaming on it lol
 
Stick is WiFi only so if you are going to be streaming large files locally, or have anything but a rock solid WiFi connection I'd pay the extra and get the TV for its Ethernet port.
 
picked up the fire stick, as I thought for £35 and with the 30 day returns policy it was worth a punt.

wow, it's brilliant!!!!! I'm seriously loving it. Thank god amazon have used a dual core processor, as compared to the roku stick I had, it's like comparing a worm to a lamborghini

does anyone know if you can somehow get the voice search to look at netflix as well? i'm thinking not since amazon would want to lock into prime, but you never know

the only grumble, is I think you have to set your amazon account to US to use the us netflix which will be a pain moving back and forth between uk and us, but at least amazon lets you change dns servers!

thinking about getting the fire tv now lol
