Just started gaming on my PC again for the first time in a decade.

I have an Xonar DG but I also have another much better sound card I bought a while back (i bought it second hand but it's RRP was around £80-£120 and it's not that old) and just never got round to installing so I'll be doing it ASAP.

Currently I'm using DT770's but I plan on hooking up my Q701's for gaming.

I've got a few options but I'm just wondering if I should get a USB condenser type mic or go with a clip on or attachment like the modmic?

I currently already have a modmic but it's connected to my mixamp which is connected to my PS4.

I could therefore either completely disconnect the mixamp and use that on the PC, albeit I reckon sound quality would probably be degraded somewhat over the half decent sound card I have. What do you reckon?

Or I could just unplug the mod mic and then plug that into the back of the PC. However as you can imagine. Unplugging this from the back of the PC every time to then connect it to the mixamp for PS4 use will be a right pain however it's probably going to be worth it. I think it would be worth me just buying another mic for the PS4 tbh as the mod mic doesn't work too great with the mixamp.

What do you guys think?

Buy a new mic for the PS4? if so it will just be a zalman clip on type affair. or should i fork out for another mod mic? or should i go one better and get a USB condenser and how practical are these things for gaming? any other options out there?

I ended up looking on massdrop to see if they had a drop for the new modmic and I found this.

Check out the Massdrop Minimic on @Massdrop: Stronger, More Modular & Half the Price. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-mini-mic?utm_source=linkshare&referer=6HW75F

Half the price of a modmic but with similar performance. Ordered. I'll use this for my PS4 and use the modmic with my PC. The modmic doesn't gel with the mixamp too well.
