Im currently looking to upgrade my PC to cope with the new games that I'll be throwing at it in the new year, currently I have

Athlon x2 939 4200
4gb cheap DDR1 memory
Abit An-8 motherboard
8800gts 320mb graphics

Now obviously the whole lot needs shot of and upgraded, but I don't think it's worth upgrading the graphics card with the rest of the PC as it currently is. So I thought I would upgrade to a nice new core2duo rig which would mean new cpu\mobo\memory, and upgrade the 8800 a couple of months down the line.

Thing is I don't really have the first idea about intel motherboard\cpu combos, so dont really know what to start looking at. Looking to spend ~£150for the cpu\mobo\memory, and would like to stick at 4gb memory if possible. Anyone got any suggestions?

Also, is it even worth it or should I stick a new graphics card in my current system and wait another 6 months?

comes to just over £200 but you cant rerally go any less than those, i would recomend save up a bit more mate :p

why bother upgrading your system with something of equal of lesser value :)

Agreed with Kenny.
Would go with a complete new system and start fresh. Buy a decent mobo (So you can upgrade CPU later) and a low end cpu to save some money and attempt to overclock it. You can pick up 4GB of ram very cheap :D
