looking for a mini itx based gaming rig most likely in a bit fenix prodigy for sub £500 notes.

looking for something that can happily play most games from the last few years at 1080p without breaking the bank.

don't need monitor/keyboard mouse etc. and must be able to squeeze into a prodigy :) (case needs to come out that £500 budget too unfortunately.)

not fussy about amd/intel and I don't need masses of grunt.

would even consider £400 not including a gpu and i'll add a dedicated card at a later date(obviously i'd need onboard gpu and a psu capable of powering a decent card as well. something that will clock is a must cant be on here and not have a rig that's clocked now can we)

c'mon guys help me out here what do you recommend?

what do you guys think of going down the road of a piledriver setup?

basically its a rig for my daughter to do a bit of light gaming on (maybe some dirt/grid 2 as she seems taken with that but mainly sims/facebook. I really have an urge to play with some amd stuff seeing as I haven't had one since my opteron :)

AMDs Trinity APUs have a very good IGP but you ideally want fast RAM to feed it.

1 x MSI A75IA-E53 AMD A75 Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard £69.95
1 x Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C11 2133MHz Dual CHannel Kit (PV38G213C1K) £59.99

Total : £393.84 (includes shipping : FREE).

£400ish and you can always add a dedicated GPU down the road, maybe 2nd Hand or a B grade bargain even.

If going the APU route, I don't thing getting anything less than the 5800k is worth the saving tbh. The GPU shader count is pruned down along with CPU clock speed. Also, Richland is out very soon which should see a nice performance gain over Trinity at the same price points, which may spur some sales of the older chips in the coming weeks if you went that way. Personally, I'm holding fire for a 6800k for an ITX setup

not too sure about going down the apu route.

was thinking more about a octo core piledriver as i'm going for a proper gpu either straight away or at some point down the line.

whats the clocking ability like of the amd mini itx mobos?
