My motherboard popped. POP.

And I've had to pick up a Q77M as a replacement, no overclocking :(

I'd like to stick to the matx theme, a 980ti and a Asus Xonar STX will be placed into the PCIe slots.

As for memory, ideally 16GB, obviously on DDR4.

CPU, I'm running a 3570k (previously at 4.2Ghz), so anything that I can OC really.

Budget? Well, not really sure. I'll manage on my crappy Q77 build for several months, so I imagine £500? Should be enough to get a fairly decent upgrade going.

Uses of PC, copious amounts of gaming and browsing. Nothing task heavy like video editing. So no need for a million cores that won't be used.

Cool, will that board give much OC'ing potential?

I've got a cooler, a decent aftermarket one.

If you can manage on your Q77 for several months then January see's the launch of Kabylake and the 200 series chipset, plus if you believe the rumours, also AMD's Zen and the new AM4 socket. If Zen does show up and if it is any good then there may finally be a alternative to go for. It may force an adjustment of pricing as well, although I fear if Zen is any good AMD will price it close to Intels offerings.

Oooo, good shout. I just don't want to do the 'waiting game' thing where I'm endlessly waiting as some people really do get stuck in an endless loop.

As for AMD, I have no interest in AMD's tech sadly, I know they can be good, but never been a fan.
