Theres no way you can get a full system with monitor, speakers, printer, keyboard and mouse for £450 youre lookin at more like £550 minimun

This would be the cheapest option and you'd still have to use the x800 you already have

Can't do it with a E4400, but using one of your gfxs the following will be a few pounds over budget:
Antec case NSK6500 inc. psu; basic kb/mouse; Asrock 4core dualvsta; E2160; 2gb crucial PC5300 C5; 500gb seagate SATAII hdd; Nec DVD-RW 5170;Fugitsu scaleo L19W-2 19" widescreen tft; logitech S100 speakers; Vista basic oem; Nero 7 esentials oem; PowerDVD oem.

Or something fairly similar.

OOppps mised the printer :(Canon Pixma iP1300 Printer

This puts it about £30 over

Look at AMD if you wanna save that much money. not only are the cpu's a tad cheaper the motherboards tend to be a lil bit cheaper aswell..

i just went amd dual core for £111

thats a gig of ram, 3600 x2 (65nm energy efficient version) and some gigabyte motherboard all new

When also including .....

Antec SLK3800BUK Black Quiet Midi Tower Case - 400W SmartPower PSU

Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA (Socket 775) PCI-Express/AGP DDR2 Motherboard

Samsung SH-S182D 18x18 DVD±RW ReWriter (Black) - OEM

thx for all the different setups i knew it was gonna be hard to get it near that budget but it is for a family friend and i really want to get the best i can for the money but im sure they can pull out another 50 notes

Why not go pre-configured?,seen some good prices around that spec, below 450 and you won`t have to do `tech` support at least for the first year :) .

i have to agree with luminous,

i have built a few PC's for people on a budget and i end up having to pop round every now and then a sort out a problem that was nothing to do with the hardware i put together and the software i installed.

it was ok at first, while they found their feet but it just became ongoing.

A manufacturer like Dell would be worth a look. You'll be getting more for your money than if you build yourself, at that price bracket.

Go Dell. I hate to say it but my mate managed to score a C2D system (e6300) for about £380 and that included a 19" monitor, 2 gigs of RAM and a 300GB HDD.
