Hate reflective screens

Mainly for productivity, movies and light gaming. I'm moving from a Dell 2407 1900x1200 from 10 years ago, it doesn't have enough space for me to watch a movie and browse the web without windows overlap.

Thanks.

What GPU do you have?

In any case, I would aim for a IPS/VA 3440x1440 ultra wide - great for productivity, gaming and movies (if you can find 21:9 content).

Here are a few curved, non-curved, G-Sync, FreeSync, 60hz and 100hz screens:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,929.96 (includes shipping: £0.00)

I just got an Acer X34A Predator from Currys, £800. 34" curved 1440P screen. Picture quality on it is outstanding,

Such a pity. I have never seen a ultra-wide screen with decent image quality. All of them are crap, being large with relatively low resolution for the size, resulting in pixels being as large as mosquitos...

Dell UltraSharp U2715H

I came from the 2407, this monitor is excellent, and massively under budget. I still run the 2407 as a second monitor, that works well for watching video while doing other stuff.

What a load of ********. No offence. My eyes are very pleased with my purchase.

Uh?? I'm not sure what monitors you've seen up close and personal, but a 34" 1440p monitor (such as the X34) is definitely not low res for the size. 1080p models yes, I would agree, but if you haven't checked out a 1440p variant, you need to do so.

Movies are 21:9 once the horizontal black bars are gone.

Well then I guess you've never seen a 3440x1440 ultrawide.

There are in the stores, you can see them in person. I don't like them.

I like 4K for now. Once the time comes, it will be all the way up only for 8K or 7680 x 4320.
Anything less than that, is a too little for my perfect eyes.

My old Dell is 90ish ppi, most of these ultrawides are 110 ppi.

Seriously tempted by a 34 or 38 ultrawide.

I wouldn't take any notice of that b0llx that you quoted. I am over the moon with my X34A, and I suspect that any decent ultrawide at 34" will give you a satisfying experience unless you're the sort to stare at the screen from less than a foot away.

Thanks for the kindness but we were over the moon with our 100ish ppi screens in years 2007 and 2008. That's exactly 10 years ago.

A 27" 3840 x 2160 screen has 163 ppi. Roughly 50% higher which is a lot and definitely doesn't deserve to be neglected.

Well yes, on a purely technical level you aren't wrong, but it depends what you're using your PC for. Gaming on AAA titles is far from guaranteed to be smooth going at 4K (even with a 1080Ti), and for the time being always limited to 60hz, not to mention 27" being small at that res... unless you are sat ridiculously close you aren't going to see THAT much difference vs a bigger 4K monitor. Productivity on 4K has an obvious advantage over 1440p, but again if you're using programmes that benefit from all those extra pixels, you will be better off with a bigger display... I've used Photoshop and Video Editing apps on a 27" 4K monitor and when sat back it can be very fiddly given how small the UI etc. is. The extra width on a 1440p ultrawide was actually more beneficial in certain apps I found.

I see a lot of people jumping on the 4K bandwagon seemingly without asking themselves WHY they actually want it... other than just thinking they should because it's the latest greatest thing. Individual use case is the most important factor to consider.
