Max budget is £180, do your worst.

Coming from a 22" LG 1680 res monitor.

I play lots of fps games and play in leagues for money if that makes any difference regarding response times.

Any more info needed please ask.

It shouldn't make a big difference - currently a lot of people (including myself) would advise thinking about the Samsung P2450H within that budget and for that usage. A similar question was asked here - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18256852. The only real step up you can get in terms of responsiveness would be a 120Hz monitor, provided your GPU is pumping out the frame rate. There are currently no 120Hz 1080p LCD monitors within your budget though.

Having used a considerable number of Iiyama monitors I very much doubt the E2409 is a poor choice for that price. The most obvious reason to prefer the P2450H are the aesthetics (backstory - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=18819123&postcount=4); if they aren't to your taste and the Iiyama is then that could change things. The image quality of Iiyama's business models have always been pleasing but no more so than the P2450H. One particular strength of the P2450H is that, like most modern Samsung monitors, the response time compensation (RTC) algorithms are implemented extremely well. Samsung introduced one of the earliest 120Hz 3D monitors with the 2233RZ - this highlights how RTC should be done very nicely and is considered by many gamers, even today, to be top of the game in terms of low amounts of visible trailing. Implementing the RTC technology 'successfully' in this way means that a monitor hides 'ghosting' or trailing a lot better than those with poorer implementations. I haven't had much experience with Iiyama monitors in this respect but I find that they tend to introduce negative artifacts which hawk-eyed viewers often pickup and it negatively effects the experience. The stated response times mean, as with many other aspects of specification (most noteably contrast figures), very little in practice.

I've just realised... There is a Full HD 3D gaming monitor (and not some strange one you won't have heard of, with any luck) available for about £8 above your budget. I had to double check it wasn't an April Fool's joke but given your uses this could well be one to consider. I can't say any more than that I'm afraid as I don't want to confuse things or mention any competitors. I think this (quite dramatic) price reduction could be partly to make way for the slew of upcoming 3D monitors to be launched in the near future (Samsung, Acer, ASUS and LG all have planned launches) but also because this monitor never quite received the recognition it perhaps deserved.

Could you give me the model number please?
