Hey everyone!

Nearing the end of my pc build I’ve been compiling for a while now, and on the look out for a monitor - specs so far;

Processor - Ryzen 1600
Cooler - NZXT Kraken x61
Mobo - MSI x370 sli plus
Ram - Team Group 16gb 3000mhz
GPU - Strix 1070
Storage - Samsung 850 evo / WD 2tb
PSU - EVGA 650 Gold
Case - NZXT S340 Elite

...Budget is sub 400. Thinking along the lines of 1440p gaming / movie watching / bit of photo editing and day2day stuff.

My own research has pointed me in the direction of the Acer BE270UA but any input would be really appreciated

Ah monitors are so personal.

For games players, size is very important, refresh rate is also very important, and number of pixels, while important, is less important. If you can't choose everything in a monitor ( and who can? ) then if you are an FPS player then I would say prioritize refresh rate. Other games and movies, then ultra-wide is a priority and sheer size counts for a lot. Last of all, resolution. As I said, that's not to say that resolution is unimportant, it's not, it's just that money ( in my opinion ) is best spent elsewhere first. Don't forget that higher resolutions are a lot more difficult to drive, too. Personally I think about the ideal monitor are the moment is a 29" ultra. You can get some at 75Hz for that money. As for mark, well with £500 you can either go for the ultra or you can step up to a true gaming monitor, like the ASUS MG279Q. Really though I would only suggest that if you have a multi-monitor setup or are a true dedicated gamer, otherwise in my humble opinion an ultra-wide is better, even if cheaper.
