Hi guys,

Just building my new rig, gone skylake and 980ti and an m.2 drive for the main bits.

I currently use a 3 monitor set up, 2 x Dell U2412M and 1 x Dell 2407.

I game a bit, looking forward to playing GTA 5 again on the new setup, I gave up on it originally becasue my 7970 couldn't keep up.

I only game on one monitor at a time, and I want to buy just one 27" monitor now and if I like it I will order another two.

I'm confused by all the TN v IPS talk and wondering whether I am going to notice the difference, I see no problem with my TN panels now.

Most of my time is spend coding and surfing the net, I just like the real estate three monitors offer.

I want to make the most of the 980ti when I do game though so I think 144hz might be an idea?

Also, will windows 10 display across three screens OK, central one being the new 27" one and the other 2 being 24" until I buy the other two??

Cheers

some people prefer IPS, some people prefer TN
the ROG Swift is an excellent TN panel and with a tiny bit of calibration provides an excellent picture and the motion clarity is superb
the main criticism of a TN panel is that if you move your head around a lot then you can see a shift to the colours, however having a TN, I only ever notice this is I move way off centre (mainly up or down), and mainly only if the screen is a solid colour, like this forum... in gaming it is not an issue for me

those dells you already have are IPS and the 2407 is S-PVA

Yes, windows will display fine across 3 screens of different sizes

basically, when it comes to monitors, you are going to need to see one in the flesh to decide if it is really for you or not, choose a retailer that has a favourable returns policy

Thanks for the detailed reply!

Oh yeah, I just checked, these are IPS, I presumed they were TN. Do dell or anybody else do 27" IPS panels with high refresh rates or g-sync?

Am I right in thinking that this 980ti will run 1440p at high FPS's?

I just went for the Acer XB270HU Predator
A colleague got one and was amazed by it.

Looks like it is a bit hit n miss as to whether you'll get a good one or not though. Will see shortly :)

980Ti will run 1440p well.
