I've decided the living room TV isn't cutting it anymore and I want to get back into gaming on a monitor. Problem is it's been about 7 years since I last bought a monitor and I have no idea what I need to buy to make sure I get the most out of current gen consoles! I currently have a Series S, but I'll be getting a PS5 in the near future, and I want something that will be good for that.

Budget is flexible, but I'm probably looking for something mid-market as opposed to top dollar.

Stick to 1440p for sure, the graphical power requirement to jump to 4k is quite extreme. You need a monitor ideally that is a 27/32in 16:9 high-hz 1440p that plays nice with consoles.
I won’t be building a gaming PC, and unless I’m wrong PS5 isn’t really capable of running 4K/120 natively? In which case is a HDMI 2.1 monitor overkill? Or is there a benefit to HDMI 2.1 even at 1440p?
