Hi guys,

Am planning on purchasing a new monitor to get the most out of my system and have a budget of about £300 at the most, only I have no idea where to begin!

Its mainly going to be used for gaming, preferably through HDMI, though DVI isnt an issue, the bigger the monitor the better only, I will sacrifice size for performance, though had my heart set on about 24".

Thanks for all your help in advance!

24" and no more than £300 will only get you a TN panel monitor. TN panels will give you very quick response time and most of them will be much of a muchness.

Dropping down to 22" will give you an option of the Dell 2209WA:

Well within your budget, it has an IPS panel which, while the response time is not quite as good as the TN panel, and it doesn't have an HDMI port, the picture quality will be in another league.

It will depend how much you care about viewing angles and picture quality/colour accuracy. With it being for gaming, if you'll only be sitting right infront of it, then you might as well go for a 24" TN panel. If you'll be viewing it at any decent angle, then how it deals with viewing angles will be a factor so you'd have to consider the 22" Dell.
