Spec me a Monitor!

Hello!

Basically looking for a new monitor.

Budget is around £150, no more if possible, which I know is a cheap budget but oh well!

Been looking at this one:

Asus VE228H

Which seems to be pretty decent across the web.

Hi there,

With that budget I would personally go with this slightly bigger monitor that is known to perform well for gaming.

Seems perfect but only thing holding me back is the last review claims its only 60Hz refresh rate.

Can anyone confirm this? I've google'd it and it seems to range between 60Hz - 85Hz!

Aye, its 60Hz, which is the standard refresh rate for LCD monitors.

If you want a higher refresh rate then you either need to pay over £200 for a 120Hz monitor or use a CRT.

Hmm, ok so at the risk of sounding like an idiot...

Why does it allow me to go to 75Hz in the control panel settings on my current monitor?

May I ask what your current monitor is?

Some LCDs can get their refresh rates that high and maintain full resolution, but often you need to reduce the resolution below the native res to achieve higher than 60Hz refresh rates.

Not sure of the full model number but its a Samsung SyncMaster 17".

Maximum Res is 1440 x 900
