Spec Me a Mono(B&W) Printer

I hardly ever need to print things, just the occasional postage label. I currently have a scanner/printer that takes colour cartridges and it's not all that reliable when I need to print something after 8 to 10 months of it doing nothing.

Is there a reasonably priced, black and white printer, maybe a laser printer that doesn't need ink that I should replace it with?

I have a Brother mono laser printer, bought it about 4 years ago and it has been brilliant and cheap to run. Like you I only do occasional printing, before that I had an Epson inkjet printer and it only lasted 18 months before the lack of use killed it.

They start at about £100 without scanner, mine has scanner and cost me about £120.

Sounds like you need a laser printer - you can just buy a cheapest one you can find for your use. Just stay away from HP and you will be golden.

Check local classifieds, laser printer resale value is pretty low and you could pick up an absolute gem for 20-40 quid.

The reason for that is that maintenance can be pricy. As you can get new one with toner for 80 quid, I dont think its worth the hassle.

Mine is the Brother DCP-L2530DW and it has WIFI to, not sure if they still make mine.

Though the HL-1110 looks good for the money

Interesting, the printer I bought is second on HotUK today and at £5 more than I paid!

I used to have a inkjet printer, I didn't use it often and when I did, ended up using most of the ink up trying to get it to work. So I bought a Samsung Xpress M2026 laser, when I bought it, it cost approx £35.00 I've replaced the toner once at a ccost of £!2.00 it's a good lille printer you can leave it for months and when you need it switch on and it works stright away.

Did the same, but got a Ricoh sp213w printer for around £40.

Had it a few years now and still on the original toner. Hardly use it now but when i do, it just works.

Go with reasonably priced laser, check oem consumables cost and win 10 compatibility. Most choices will do what you need ok
