Hey guys, I'm new here, be kind.

My current rig is getting quite long in the tooth now (P2.8 9500pro) and I feel like splashing out. I'm kind of out of date with hardware at the moment so I'll throw out a few things I'd like to have and if you guys could chip in that'd be appreciated.

This rig will be used for gaming.

2x500GB sata drives, I'm not fussy over brand.
1xDVD/RW dual layer, I don't know if burner drives still have dodgy firmware, which ever is the least crippled.
2x8800GTXs, Not sure which one to buy but the bfg is on this week only.
A soundcard, I have a 5.1 pro logic set up at home, which I've managed to fudge to work with dolby surround.
A moniter, currently have an SGI 21' crt ANYTHING will be better then that (see below)
Mouse, I've got an mx700 atm, so either the 518 or the G5? Revolution?
Case, I have no idea about cases, everything looks bland and grown up compared to bright green chieftech ;)
PSU, :S I don't think my £9 400w psu will cut it.
Mobo, ??
Ram, two sticks of 1gb each? I've had horrible experiences with trying to add more ram to a system in the past, if incompatibility is still the case then I'll grab an extra 2gb just to save the hassle.

CPU is an interesting question the E66 is 1/3  of the price of either the EE c2 quatros or duos, would I be really wasting my money buying the 68/67 when I could just overclock? With the money saved I could probably stretch to the 30' dell rather then the 24'. (assuming the 30' doesn't suffer from any ghosting :()

I'd really to watercool this beast but I have no experience with it (would love to try)

I think that's everything, thanks in advance.

EDIT:Budget is ~3k I can move on that if it squeezes in something worthwhile. No keyboard needed, nothing beats an IBM 101.

but there you go :)

ps the new site isn't as nice for copying across your shopping basket.....

That build looks perfect, exactly what I want!

The BFG mobo isn't in stock until the 5th of jan :( which means my pc won't be delivered until the 8th (monday)

If I swap the BFG 680 for the EVGA one so that I can order now, will that mess anything up? Aren't they basically the same board only the EVGA is slightly more expensive?

A *quick* reply is thanks =) anyone?

yeh same mate your just getting the evga 10 year warranty instead of bfg's life time but go for it

More money than sense, I would put £1000+ of that into a new 5.1 speaker system.
:D

I would have put a few hundred into a nice Amp + speakers if it was mine!
But if I suddenly gained £3k to spend on a pc I'd be laughing as could get approaching a grand for all the other bits and pieces I have lying around! :D

Hope it all goes together nicely, make sure you post some benchmarks :)
