Spec me a monster

Behave, it is a perfectly good keyboard, I've used it myself (in fact I'm using it's older brother) although I'd agree it is probably out of place on a £2k system.

I actually decided I might as well get the specification done tonight, this doesn't use up all the budget but I figure at this level a lot of it comes down to personal preference in component selection so that is why there is room for manoeuver.

I'd suggest possibly getting another 3 drives and going RAID 0+1 if the motherboard is capable and if you want to spend a bit more cash!

I thought it was mean laughing at the guy with-out posting my suggestion:

Areas that could save money:
It is known that the q9450 doesnt seem to be that great for overclocking (i think) so could go to the q6600.
You didnt spec a blue-ray drive but thought it would be nice to include one.
Cheaper monitor.
Cheaper Case.

And major oops, power supply, but in all honestly i wasnt sure how much power it needed....so yah savings would be needed for that.

Just realised keyboard is US layout, you can get UK ones. Only chose it cause I like the design, and hence mouse as well to go with it.

Just realised there isnt an OS or speakers included....sorry.
so i made mistakes, but not as bad as the other guy.....as far as iam aware.

How's this for a beastie? got two 22'' monitors because for CAD work and design stuff 2 is much better than 1. Also you can add in another 9800GX2 for quad SLI later :)

Whats the MAIN purpose of the machine?

What type of CAD are you doing? 3D or 2D?

Gaming GFX cards are deliberately not certified for most CAD packages, instead they try to only support the high end CAD ranges like Quattro and FIREGL (Nvidia and ATI respectively).

If it's only light CAD use it probably won't matter but i've noticed hugely better performance on a mid range CAD card than a top of the range gaming card using 3D applications like Solidworks.

Just something to think about.

that is true. If you are going to be lots of intensive solid modeling then a quadro or firegl card will be a good investment.
