hey fellas,

As I'm only 2.5 miles away from work I've defo decided to get a bike. Non of this pansy hybrid bikes, a man's mountain bike ;)

So 2.3miles of the journey is on the canal - pretty much a straight march to work and back again. However I have colleagues with £2k bikes hitting trails and going on bike rides so would like to join them on occasion hence the need for a mountain bike.

My area isn't exactly great and there tons of theifs about so pointless blowing a fortune on a bike for me - About £400-£450 is my budget.

Was looking at these three but just can't decide:

1800 is heavier than the 1300 so not sure if the extra 'spec' is worth it.

Nice frame, but its heavier than the others?

Got no idea - I'm 5" 7 so no idea on size either! - Was thinking 17"??

any help appreciated, thanks

Hey,

I was going to post pretty much the exact same thing - mind if I hijack your thread please? :D

Only difference is budget for me would be around $500 (£300).

Cheers,

Su

P.S. I've never heard of Ghost - is it a new-ish company? Back in my day it was all Specialized, GT, Scott... Raleigh :p

Only place I've ever seen Ghost Bikes was on holiday in Lanzarote, They were hire bikes!

If you can find some extra cash or pick up a used one the VooDoo Bizango 29er gets great reviews and looks fun :)

lol - back in my day it was BMX or Raleigh Chopper! :)

Not bothered about 29" wheels in all honesty, just want an awesome bike to raas down the canal, and occasionally take off-road....

Ghost are huge in mainland Europe. No experience of them but some top riders are on them.

The difference in price is in the fork. IIRC the RST mlo are the cheapest of the range.

Size wise you would need a medium frame. About 17" is perfect.
