Right I've just a brown fury thing shoot across my living room floor and disappear to god knows where... don't think it was large enough to be a rat, but either way it could give speedy Gonzales a run for his money...

Now with the absence of napalm, cat or the ability to nuke from orbit... can you guys spec me a trap, I'm not squeamish and I want these little pests gone!

Just your typical off the shelf mouse trap will do. You could also try a cage trap if you don't want to kill it, but I don't see the point unless you're a hippy or live in the country and can take it to a field to release.

Just make sure you position the traps well. Mice and rats like to run alongside walls and skirting. It's rare for them to cover open ground in a house.

A quote from a recent mouse trap thread on another forum by CH1:

The trick with snap traps is to put them with the business end facing outwards into a cut off plastic bottle that is just wide enough to take the base, and just high enough for the bail to flip over. Then the mouse has to approach from the direction that you want, so it cant get flipped in the air or caught the wrong way around. It also helps to stick the trap to something heavy or the floor because otherwise the reaction to the heavy bail flipping over moves the whole trap out from under the mouse.

Worked for that ones OP first try.

More modern designs tend to reduce the chance of getting whacked on the fingers by the bar which hurts quite a lot but is unlikely to break anything.

Used the basic spring bar ones that flip 180 degrees on a wooden tile for years tho. Sprinkle a few around in the more concealed areas and check on them once or twice a day. Empty mouse into bin and reset.

Live traps seem quite pointless and an exercise in wasting your time, dumping your problems on someone else or a cruel way to kill a mouse either by not checking the trap enough or by dumping a house mouse into the wild. Anyone using them needs to man up and use something that kills them properly and quickly.

Go to a hardware store, buy a mousetrap, put some peanut butter on it and wait.

I mean seriously, this isn't rocket science - all mousetraps do the same job.

yeah its pretty straight forward... any plastic trap will work 2 for £1 from poundlound did me fine when i needed them.

dont bother with cheap poison.

If you've seen one mouse in your house then there are in reality many others. Your best bet is to probably call in a professional pest control company like Rentokil.
