Spec me a murder weapon

Meridian is vaguely in that area so he could be who you are thinking of although I don't think he strictly does forensics.

He does strictly do forensics (the word means "for the law"), but he's not a biologist (as we used to call them). However many of his colleagues are, and he has picked up a fair amount. So he knows that this:

Someone can correct me, but I remember reading that if the body is left or burnt on heavy undergrowth, it's going to be immediately obvious to a forensic scientist even a month or two after

is broadly true. It takes a surprisingly long time for the affected area to match the surroundings.

One of my colleagues wanted to start a "perfect murder" website, with all the best ways to avoid forensic detection. Pay-to-view of course. Pay quite a lot actually...

apparently my Uni has just been voted by UCAS as the best for forensic based subjects?

The bad news is that the overall standard is so low for "Forensic Science" courses that it doesn't mean much. The only course worth more than its weight in warm spit is the Strathclyde MSc course. Which is why the FSS and the various private equivalents all tell you take biology or chemistry instead. Sorry...

Yeah I realised this after I'd applied. I tried to change my course last year but no luck.

I had a read on the FSS website, they say it doesn't matter but I get the feeling they're made to say that so they don't appear to be discriminating..

I'm perfectly happy to take whatever science based role I can, whether it be in Chemistry or Biology. Hopefully with the aim of building up sufficient experience to apply for a Forensics role.

All of this won't be in the UK either, will be out in New Zealand, so I'll see what they say out there.

Kris.
