Im looking for an music player (dont mind if it costs money) that can compress music as its syncing? but will leave my library un compressed, the reason being is my library on my PC is far bigger then my ipod, and I want all the music on there.

I know mediamonkey does it, and I have used it for a while, but was just wondering if there are any better alternatives?

Depends on a few things, mainly the amount of space on the iPod, what generation it is, how large the music collection is and a few other things probably.

A media player is not the way to do this though, odds are you'll have to convert it separately.

not sure if this meets your needs but Floola is good, once set up to work with your iPod (admittedly this isnt that simple but not too tricky) you drop and drag music into it then it will convert to ALAC, AAC (320/190kbps). This cuts out itunes and leaves your original collection untouched. not tried using it as a music player though as I have foobar for that.

Well, yea i wanna compress to around 160, i have about 33gb on my pc and my ipod mini is 32 gb, its not the orig hdd its a flash drive so what ever media player i use doesnt have to be combatable with ipods.

no im pretty sure the iPod doesnt support .ogg and that if you use the provided ipod software then u need to convert to AAC or ALAC. this also depends on your iPod. If you have a 4th gen ipod or earlier you can get rockboxx which plays all file types but anything newer and your stuck with apples software to run your ipod.
