Ok, recently I got hold this system.

it was all working flawlessly until my 2 year old little one poured some orange juice all over it. I have since taken it to a local repair shop to be told it isnt fixable.

So, I still have the speakers that came with the package. Namly these

So, I believe the subwoofer to be an active sub so I can replace it with almost any Av reciever.

I have around £300 to spend on a replacement AV reciever and would ideally like something that would allow me to play stuff over the network. I have a sony TV if there is any benifit in getting a sony AV reciever.

Also, on top of the AV reciever I am thinking of replacing the front with a pair of warfendale diamond 9's since they are only £50 from richer sounds. Would they be better than the speakers I currently have. I am planning on upgrades over the years and perhaps the diamond will become the rears over time when I can afford to get some floorstands (wont happen for a while with the pesky kids around)

Over to you wonderfull people at OC :) What have people purchased recently? what do you people recommend me listening to?

I would go Yamaha.

Haven't had Onkyo (yet) but I had a Denon receiver and was so surprised by its cheap feel and GUI that made teletext look next gen I sent it back. It was however a bit brighter in sound and vision than my current RX which is a Harmon Kardon AVR255.
