After getting converted to firefox many moons ago I'm starting to get more and more frustrated with it.

On my main PC with 1gb of ram it often sits around using 140mb of ram, sometimes achieved when just using 2 tabs, I thought this was a lot...

On my laptop I caught it using 420mb of ram, I upgraded the ram because photoshop was drinking it but now FF is taking even more of it and I'm not impressed.

Is this something other users have trouble with or should I go back to using IE? Just restarted FF and its back already to using 240mb. It's standard 2.0.0.3 but I use Adblock Plus too.

Thanks

edit: gone up another 10mb just writing this post.

Try typing about:config into the address bar.

Then scroll to browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers

Set it to something like 2.

This should reduce the amount of previously viewed pages that firefox caches in memory. You can even set it to 0 if you like.
