Hello everyone

I hope this finds you well. I was wondering if I could get some advice, i have been running the same build for 5 and one month (funny that I know) adding a few bits here and there but now the old girl is struggling and is unable to run things on Ultra (shocker I know) yet keeps it's cool on "high" to "very high". The spec is below and if you could advise if I could squeeze a bit more out of it by a GFX upgrade or some other boost.

*Krypton Intel Core i7 960 3.20GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle
*Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
*SSD (forget the name and will be upgrading anyway)
*Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 Windforce 3X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
*GeIL 12GB (3x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz VALUE PLUS Triple Channel (GVP312GB1600C9TC)
*Corsair TX 750W ATX SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-750TXUK)

I have a 1080p monitor so that is the max.

All advice and suggestions would be most welcome.
Thank you in advance

Hi Snips

Well I have been thinking and I will look at a CPU/MB that I can OC and keep running for the next 4-5 years. I know GFX cards don't last that long so I'd rather invest less and replace in two years or so.

I was also thinking for some fun and build myself a custom water cooling solution so if i do upgrade thinking for going big :)

I am thinking of something around £1K but even if I stay on air I will be keen to get something that will last me.

Its a bit of a dream but came here to be nudged to yes :)..

Hi Guys

As I am waiting for the new processors to become available and bench marked I was thinking of starting off the upgrade with a new PSU and GFX card

I have been out of touch and is there any easy way to advise on a mid range card with good bang for buck, what is a good budget this day and age? Single card to run games well, say Witcher 3 at ultra? Would £300 for a GFX card cover it?

Good morning Gang

I trust we are all well and enjoying "bump day" :)

I have a quick query, I am slowly upgrading my system and stage one was purchasing a new GPU https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-178-PC when looking at the OCUK site I was well pleased and saw that the minimum PSU acquirement and I quote "- 600W or greater PSU required" so I order plug in and off it goes, i use "Afterburner" and after the card was swapped out it reset and was running at 500Mhz so I looked at the specs and set it to factory standard manually (1010MHz) same with the memory. Now I had a gander on the box of the card and saw that the minimum requirements were a 750W PSU.

My query is, until I get a 750W is it safe to run the card at stock or am I causing damage? It has been a busy week and I have not used it long, just a few games to see how they run nice improvement i am happy to report. To add my MB only has PCI 2.0 card runs on 3.0 (backwards compatible)

Any advice?

Hi, Don't suppose anyone can share any thoughts, perhaps some one from the OCUK team to give me some peace of mind about the card so that I don't damage or reduce life span by following their sites minimum requirements.

650watt is enough to run any single card with ease. You can overclock to your hearts content.
