Spec me a new camera

I have been using a lumix tz7 for a couple of years, but the lens seems to have failed on it, it won't zoom in and out properly and keeps getting stuck.

I don't particularly want another panasonic, I have seen the Powershot SX range and the ixus500/1100 range (budget is max £300)

I would like some zoom, upto 10x minimum, also the camera has to be pocket friendly, I guess the maximum size would be lumix tz sized.

Any alternative suggestions?

What are you photographing?

Holiday snaps and other miscellaneous usage.

Also I would like a flash on it too!

Well I have narrowed it down to S100 or the XZ-1, both are the same price

Anyone used both extensively, the only thing I can see between the two is size difference, video difference and number of features.

The S100 that I tried out seemed to be a bit laggy, when selecting modes etc which really bugged me.
