Right i prefer fairly high AA on my games anything from 4x-16x prefered

Current card 8800GTS 512MB

Res - 1680x1050

PSU - Corsair 650W

Rest of specs are in Sig

Games - Fallout3, GTAIV, COD4, some Crysis, NFS Prostreet / Undercover, X3 Terran Conflict.

Budget of between £200-250 Possibly £300 at a push

I was thinking along the lines of a GTX260-216 eVGa and clocking itmyself, and perhaps use my 88GTS as a physx card if my PSU cant take it or simply sell it ?

And you cant forget my MB is CrossfireX capable but i cant say im really brand supportive.

Thanks.

I'm in exactly the same boat situation, right down to the CF motherboard (C2D E6600 and P5W-DH combo instead) so will be watching this thread with interest.

I've already had to put the credit card away once this week when caught looking at those OCUK 260s for just over £200

a 4870 1 gig is slightly better than the 260 and will allow you the possibility of future crossfire upgrade, Id recomend adding an aftermarket vga cooler to these though as the stock ones tend to perform poorly - either poor cooling at default speed or loud when turned up. i just finished installing my aftermarket coolers (only bout £15 each) and I'm much happier now, and they look cool. Ive made a thread on how to do this if youre interested in it, its quite easy

Interesting idea i guess, Only physx games i have are GRAW 1 + 2 and CUDA well So i doubt i will miss anything from that.

4870 1GB seems ok i guess although i cant say ive bought an ATI card before lol - only in a laptop :)

The Powercolour 1GB looks ok for £212, about the coolers, Ive never actually installed a GPU cooler before so im hoping its not too awkward. Are most of the custom ones dual slot the same as the stock version?

I have my X-fi card in the only spare PCI slot so its tight with the gfx, as the other one is covered by my 88GTS. And when it comes to Crossfire will i still be able to get my X-fi sandwiched between 2 gfx cards?

Edit - Just seen your post at swapping a stock cooler to a custom and it looks fairly simple.
