Hi guys,

As above, I'm in the market... I currently have an Eastpak Pak'R as my daily but I need to take a dedicated laptop bag a couple of times a week, and it's a faff!

I guess my main requirements are:

Waterproof.
Lots of storage - compartments, pockets etc.
Laptop compartment - or room for a laptop.
Space for a mini, hand brolly.
Big water bottle pocket.

Not asking for too much am I?

Thanks!

Ok, hoping you guys can give me some help or advice, looking for a travel backpack for work, I am based in the UK and I do 2 type of trips manly,

3/4 Night trips to Europe.
4/5 night trips to the USA.

I need to pack work laptop(16" MacBook pro) plus 11" iPad pro, along with a Peak Design Tech Pouch, 1 or 2 books for reading while traveling, Wash Kit, along with all the cloths I should need for the trip.

When I get to where I am going I unload all the clothing I need and hang it up at the hotel but I will still need to use the backpack daily to carry laptop and tech kit to the office I am working from, also be good if it could carry a good size waterbottle.

Been looking at the Nomatic(Gomatic) range and like the look of the TRAVEL PACK but I am not sure it will be big enough for a 5 night trip, also like the look of the NAVIGATOR TRAVEL BACKPACK 32L but worried its going to be to big once the clothing is taken out?? I am a bigish guy so really small bags wont suit me.

Any views on these 2? or other bags that maybe better for what I need?

A 32L backpack isn't going to be too big when the clothing is taken out. I have a 30L one and sure it isn't bulked out if I don't put much in it, but that doesn't really cause a problem.
I'd be much more worried about whether 32L is big enough for a 5 night trip, personally I only ever used my 30L pack for 1-2 night stays, I took an overnight bag or suitcase if staying longer.

The website says "With a 32 liter to 41 liter expansion this bag can pack up to 5 days worth of clothing and a 16" laptop" but I'd be pretty sceptical, meaning in mind you also want to bring an 11" Ipad, books, washbag etc.

Honestly for your use case involving overseas travel I'd say you'd be better off getting a small carryon suitcase where you can pack all your clothes/wash kit etc and then have a separate daily rucksack for your laptop and books etc. It also avoids scenarios where on the final day you've had to check out of the hotel and then you are fishing about in your rucksack pulling out your Ipad and having to sift through a bag jam packed with stuff including dirty laundry etc.

The problem is when I get to the US i change from Business to local first class, and even in first you can only take one carry on.

I have been after a backpack style bag for everyday use that can fit a 15" laptop along with a load of gizmos etc but i prefer the ones that have a single shoulder strap rather than over both shoulders. I am currently using an Intel one i got at ICC years back but its seen better days.

I use this and so far its held up well and the beatings have been tolerable.

Its extremely tactical and allows me to carry as much 5.56mm FMJ NATO as i need and still have room for a MacBook air.
I found there is nothing worse than commuting 20 mins and not having 72h supply of water and multiple MREs.

If it's going to be detonated i wouldn't spend a mint on it to be frank. ;) I take it a classic leather briefcase and a bowler is kind of old fashioned these days?
