So I've just done a Torture Test on Prime95 and I'm going to have a serious temp issue if I overclock this any further. I know my Arctic Freezer Pro 13 is not up to the job as per below. The temp of the CPU (TMPIN1 I think) is just around 65 after 10 mins. I need to o/c to at least 4.5/6 to reduce any potential bottleneck when my additional GTX660 arrives.

Due to the RAM I'm using not being Low Profile, I cannot use the top 3. K2, NH-D14 & TC14PE. I've been looking at the Antec Khuler 620, but I'm not sure if it's the best solution.

What could you recommend?

What sort of budget have you got in mind?

hmmm....not really thought about it to be honest. No more than the price of a Antec Kuhler 620 which I think on here is roughly £50.

I've been looking at these, but a bit worried it would clutter my case:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Prolimatech Black Megahalems CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £49.98
1 x Prolimatech Armageddon CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011) £44.95
Total : £105.43 (includes shipping : £8.75).

The megahelims is a very good cooler, and should be ok with your dominator ram. However youll need to add your own fan/s to it.

It does look great!

What would you recommend fan wise?

I've been thinking about 2x 120mm Bitfenix Spectra Pro Blue LED's, but not sure these would be powerful enough. Otherwise, I have 4 120mm Corsair AF120 performance fans.

I've heard THESE are very good also!

Ive heard that the prolimatechs perform better with 140mm fans. Certainly know that the armageddon supports them. Of course people at ocuk swear by GT 120mm.
Something to consider.

hmmm....trying to keep the cost down. Do you think the Antec would be ok...?

I used akasa vipers with my prolimatech supermega, pretty good on an i7 920 @4.2ghz. Also tried some 140mm bitfenix spectre's, (non pro), they were terrible tbh.

Trouble is im using my gelid stock cooler and the ones provided in my fractal case, so i dont have a huge basis for comparisons. Ive also used bequiet in the past and there excellent coolers despite being a tad expensive. If your trying to keep cost down and already have a bunch of Corsair AF120, why not try those first and see. Since the prolimatech support two fans, you pretty much guaranteed a drop in temps (over arctic freezer). Can always buy seperate fan later.

The 140mm variant is suposed to be excellent but £15!

Im kind of bias towards air coolers so best not to ask me about the antec lol

If you're gonna buy fans for a megahalems, you might as well just get a K2/D14 etc :)

If you do go for the Megahalems, do NOT stick Spectre's on it. Stick one or two TY-147's on it and thank me later ;)

My main issue is the RAM. The vengeance is not low profile and will not fit under either.

Ok, so I'm looking at these:

with these:

I'm leaning to the Armagddon due to my RAM and the need to populate the remaining 2 slots.

Vengeance actually does fit under a K2 :)
If you don't fancy raising up the front 120mm fan, you could very easily use just a centre fan or centre and rear fans.

I have one of These and i cant hear it at all....the fans dont even spin up until the cpu gets to about 34c, although i have not tested it with any testing software...plus i did have to take the heat-spreaders off my ram though :D

I really like the idea of the K2 now I think about it!

If I reversed the fans to pull towards the exhaust in the case and bought the TY-147 when in stock and use just one of them, that would be ideal. Shame the TY's aren't in stock at the moment. I'm sure the stock fans will do until they are back in though. Seems to be a great cooler from what I've been reading.

Its a cracking cooler. I bought one to replace the supermega i had. Saw a drop in temps of 8c on my old 4.2ghz i7 920, (77-69c max @100% load). Been through several fan setups on mine, the stock ones, x2 of the alpenfohn 120mm's, finally settled on 2x akasa piranha's.

It's a good 'un :)

Like I say, I run the one TY on there and the case exhaust does the rest.
Stock fans are fine, but when you can replace them both with just a single, superior fan that does just as good a job at only 1000rpm, it's a no-brainer - especially when it's only £5.99 for the privilege

On top of that, you still get to look at your fancy ram and show off the diamond cut thing on the fins :D

Whats clearance like on the sides of the k2 with the TY's fitted Petey? I have my audio card fitted in the pcie slot closest to the cooler, just above the gpu.

As you can see above, the card is very close to the fan clips, few mm to spare. I could move the card to the second gpu slot, but ill hopefully eventually be adding a second 670 in there.
