Our existing duvet is a few years old and has seen better days so it's time to replace it.

Requirements are that it's super king size and needs to be able to hold its shape for more than a few days without all the filling moving to one end! A two part one would be good so we can use the thin part in the summer, medium in the spring and autumn and then have them both together for all the togs in the winter. It also needs to have a decent method of fixing the two parts together.

Any suggestions please?

Interested, we tried IKEA (yes I know) and after about 3 months its already lost all of its shape so I'm discounting that one for you! :D

I just get the cheapest pocketed quilt on eBay. For example, my 1.0 tog summer duvet that I've had for the fourth year so far only cost me around £8.

Bought this one recently based on the good reviews on the website. Can't knock it and has 20% off the the moment
Oh that's interesting - Is that a microfibre one? The description mentions microfibre cover and polyester filling. If it's microfibre, how do you get on with it feeling a lot lighter and less fluffy than a traditional duvet?

hungarian down
Funnily enough, I've been looking at Hungarian down today. JL don't do a two part Hungarian down and so if I bought two, a 13 tog for the winter and a 4.5 for the summer, it's over £500! This is the one I was looking at earlier, the All Seasons 15 version.

Got you one Feek.... this should suite you. This is a cover to go with your new duvet.

I love my M&S 1 tog. In the winder I just use an additional blanket on top if required.

Everything else is just too warm now!

We have two White Company down duvets, both are recommended. One summer one winter - keeps things simple!

They both have a grid sown across them so the filling stays where it is meant to.

I bought a similar set from The Duvet Store a few years ago and it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. Went with the 4.5 and 9 tog set and it's kept me lovely and warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I'm still using the 9 tog and my bedroom was around 25c a few weeks ago and it was perfect. I would've been sweating my ass off with a foam duvet but these are breathable which makes a huge difference when you're tucked up in bed.

As for the price, yes they're expensive but considering the amount of time we spend in bed and the fact they'll last for 10 years, I was happy to spend more. Easy to wash too :)

We have a 15 tog silent night which is lovely and warm in winter but at this time of year I find myself sticking body parts out to cool down. Might just get another one of a lighter tog value and rotate them as required.

Without a shadow of a doubt, get a mulbery silk filled one, so light and cool in the summer warm in the winter, holds its shape, you’ll never want another one.

I have a all season Hungarian goose down duvet from soak and sleep.
Think it's a 9 and a 3 tog.

Got it 8 years ago and still looks and works great. Looks like they've nearly doubled in price since then.
I wouldn't recommend silk filled because they loose their shape horribly when washed. Had a pillow which was useless clump afterwards.

Had our silk one for nearly 10 years, as good as new and no problem after washing. The silk is stitched in, cost about £300 now by the look of things, lots of fakes about so maybe you were unlucky

You could be right, it certainly looked and felt the part but once washed resembled something more man made.

Thanks - I checked again the day after and the place I linked had increased their price but it's back down again now - I suspect it's like DFS where there's always a sale on.

I've just ordered the two part set, 10.5 and 4.5 tog.

Looks like this does as well, it's important!

Thanks everyone.
