not 100% sure if I've got the right section, networks and connectivity didn't entirely seem right either.

so as i'm sure a good few people have had happen my email was changed a few months back from good ol' Hotmail to outlook.com. and since then it's become almost unuseable for me as a resource. the website can occasionally load properly for me at home but when i'm anywhere else it generally completely bugs out and won't load at all.

so i'm considering moving to someone else. but it's been a while and i'm a tad rusty on who else is available/any good.

any advice? ideally somewhere with decent allowance for attatchments because occasionally I do need to send the odd CAD drawing via email.

also any tips for moving contacts or is it like changing sim card you just have to email everyone your new address?

I do like the new outlook.com but like with you it's become frustratingly slow.

I want to stick with them because all my email addresses are linked and that makes life easier but I do hope they upgrade their servers or do whatever it is they need to do.

Gmail is still nice and quick for me.

MS are killing off account linking in the near future (you should have had an email to that effect).

I'd stick with Gmail if I were you... apart from much better speed/reliability (in my experience at least), they don't have an idiotic "no nudity of any sort" policy, so you can send your sister a snapshot of your kids playing in the bath without the risk of having your entire account auto-deleted without warning.

Reading the Microsoft threads I see people are asking why there is no answer to this...

Why is there no answer to this. Obviously Microsoft does not care & we seem to be being forced to leave. Sad but if this does not improve very quickly most users will have no choice but to switch. I guess this is what Microsoft want...
The old Hotmail was perfect & we NEVER had these issues.

You could set up forwarding to/send as at another email service such as gmail until the issues are resolved. Then you can stay there or migrate back but you at least keep the email addresses.

Gmail may not be the best for this, they've removed Exchange Activesync for free profiles so you'd only have POP access to Outlook.com.

Luckily, I'm only a light user of both Gmail (social bits) and Outlook.com (personal/important bits) so I haven't come across many issues with Outlook.com. Gmail has lost old messages of mine before when I've used it as my main provider, so I'm more inclined to put up with performance issues of Outlook.com if my data is safe.

Microsoft forums are terrible, you just get generic replies from some jumped up 'contributor' who then closes the thread without actually providing a solution.

Every issue I've reported on their forums has gone un-fixed.

All other program makers that I've contacted have rectified every issue I've ever reported!

Surprising to hear about problems with Outlook.com - it's been running absolutely fine for me

I wonder since it's only a recent thing they might be having growing pains with the new Blue wave stuff.

Report it through there feedback on the site, settings then at the bottom feedback, include your email address, it's usually pretty good.
I can't say I notice any of these issues, at home, hotels or on 3G.

I've used Fastmail for a few years now and I would recommend it. I can't ever remember any outages or problems accessing my emails save for Opera x64 sometimes refusing to load up Fastmail. Firefox and Chrome would always be OK. I now use Opera x86 full time.

Fastmail is paid for so I don't know if that's something you're willing to do but have a look and perhaps trial it? :)

I know it doesn't help you but it seems fine for me and I have email on it going back to 2001. Could it be browser based? Have you tried with IE10 just to eliminate a browser/code oddity?

I'm using IE10, have tried with IE8 and firefox. It isn't browser related. At the moment I can't click on a new message and see the content, it was fine 20 minutes before. I won't close the window and it will start working at some point soon then become pretty much unusable in the early afternoon again.
