At a bit of a loss really.

I finished Mass Effect 2 and loved it. Before that I really enjoyed Fallout 3.

I'm playing Dead Space at the moment but it's a bit "meh". Bought Bioshock 2 but am not really enjoying it either... Maybe I'm just weird.

I think I'd quite like something different rather than just running around like a headless chicken shooting stuff. I tend to like RPGs, is there much out there I should investigate at the moment? What I really want is for someone to make a new Mechwarrior game :(

Any sort of MMO is a no-go, I can't afford to get something that will chew up all my spare time or work/sleep/studies will suffer :p

Advice much appreciated!

Mount and Blade Warband will be the best game this year. (yes better than god of war 3, mass effect 2 etc..) But it is very addictive.

Its a 'realistic' medieval RPG. Where you start as one guy and can become a king, or a leader of bandits, or a lone wanderer, or a great khan, or even a barbarian who runs into battle naked with a fat two handed maul.

God damn whens my pre-order going to show up.

how indepth is the mp side of it?

Problem i had with M&B is it gets a bit boring. Just doing the same things again and again.
wander map raiding villages, attack bands, build up army, attack city/castle, take castle and repeat. The combat is fun but if im outnumbered it boils down to me vs 100. The things you mention becoming king? That must be in a mod then or possible in warband? coz you cant do it in M&B.

Leader of bandits/great khan/barbarian/lone wanderer??? <<< doesnt really mean anything. Just different name for same things. And why be a lone wanderer when you cant do anything unless you build your army up.
Liked the rpg aspects of it though.

Yeh, its quite popular.
How about Oblivion, old but still looks good ( and must be pretty cheap!).
Or, Stalker? Its a bit buggy but looks great and has bags of atmosphere.

Thanks, will order it - bit pricey on Steam though! :)

Oblivion was pretty pants without expansions and mods. I found the same oblivion worlds quite tedious too :( Massive disappointment after Morrowind... At least Fallout 3 made good use of the engine!

Well I gave in and tried out the Just cause 2 demo, once I got the hang of the parachute and how to double grapple I started enjoying it... using a vehicle to pull something down is great! I quickly ran out of ammo though and couldn't find any more before the time limit expired. I did manage to pull some poor bloke off his motorbike before it ended! :p

I didn't think I'd like it, but it seems like good fun and runs beautifully with really high settings so I think I'll buy it :) Can't help thinking that team co-op play would make this even more spectacular. Anyways, thanks, guys! :)

I'd buy it right now but it's much more expensive on Steam for the games I want for some reason - what's going on there? I'll order elsewhere.

As someone who loved Fallout 3, both Mass Effect games, Dragon Age: Origins and the Awakening expansion and also felt Oblivion got tedious without mods because the world was so repetitive, I quite found myself enjoying Risen in late December/early January. Its a bit different but worth a try if you can look beyond the odd weak spot.

The ending to Risen was in no way satisfying though. This I must warn you.

if you like rpgs try Infinite Undiscovery im sure its out on pc if its not then i know The Last Remnant is out on pc. Plus The Last Remnant is only £9.99

FALLOUT 2

With the children patch and the high res patch (both can be found on no mutants alowed)

The greatest game in history.

10 years on I'm still playing it and still not seen everything/played it every way.

Make a character with 1 int, and you'll have a completly different game compared to a normal character due to only being able to talk in grunts :D

You can't be a jack of all trades you have to pick what you're going to be good at.

You can complete the game by killing every single person plant and creature you see without ever talking to them (and thus not learn anything about the plot :p) or you can play the whole game without fireing a single bullet and talking/stealthing your way through the game (including end boses)

Or the huge gulf of grey area between them :)

Then play fallout 1 also excelent but has some engine issues that make it a bit annoying first time.

Is it worth giving oblivion another go with all the expansions (deluxe pack on steam?) and perhaps some large mod pack?

Thanks for all the suggestions so far, should keep me busy :p

Do a search for the old oblivion thread as quite a few people posted links to the best mods for it and how to get the best player experience out of it.

If youve played through oblivion give morrowind a go as its very good!

I've already played through Morrowind three times :D Awesome game... I wish there was an updated graphics pack or something for the whole game.

I'm hooked on Just Cause 2 now, oops!
