Spec me a new graphics card please.. failing 8800GT?

Hi there i have

q6600 clocked to 3.0ghz
4gb ram
8800gt

this plays everything fine that i want to play my 8800gt is on its way out

anyone got a brand new card ideas on a budget to replace this please ?

I went from an 8800GT to a 1GB 460 and was a pretty good upgrade. Still running it! At 1080P res, still runs games well.

And a good call on seeing if you can o/c your Q6600 a bit more.

This. I went from an 8800GT to a 460 1GB also and i still have it. It's a great card, possibly one of the best bang for buck cards since the 8800GT itself. Second hand you should be able to get one for £50-£60. I'm getting 45-55FPS on high preset in BF3 using a 1680x1050 monitor.

cheers guys want a brand new one preferably nvidia so i dont have to reformat etc.. so will be around £125 for the 1gb 460

is there anything cheaper like £80-£90 or would i have to go MSI HD 6850 OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express ATI ?

6850 would be my choice. Pretty much the same as the 460, but £40 cheaper!

You dont have to.

Download amd drivers.
Uninstall nvidia
boot in safe mode
install amd drives
reboot

simples?

There's only a few games tested here, and of course drivers will vary, but you can clearly see what a considerable upgrade a 6850 would be :
