Hi,
as per other threads, it seems my Devil's Canyon build is becoming too unstable to be trusted and that CPU is end of life now, so i'm looking at an upgrade, just looking for some opinions etc, sanity check to see if what i'm thinking about is sensible.
I want to stick w/ Intel, so i'm thinking of an I5-9400F

so;
- what's a good, sensibly-priced mobo? i've gone a bit off ASUS due to experiences, my Gigabyte seems pretty solid so i'd maybe like one of that brand.
- only have DDR3 memory at the mo, what's a good reasonably-priced type? the DDR is Kingston Hyper X, seems pretty solid to me. Currently have 16gb, i believe Win 10 doesn't have the sneaky memory cap that Win 7 had, but i'm not too bothered about going to 32gig unless there's a good deal.
- for a cooler, i have a Noctua NH-U14S on my Canyon, can i just use that?
- I've got a GTX-980, so i'm not needing a new GPU
- Case is a Cooler Master CM-690, ATX
- power is a Corsair RM 750, i assume i'll be able to use that, there's been no silly cable/fittings changes over the years.

TIA

What's your budget ? And also wait till after 5pm tomorrow to see some Zen3 news. More then likely paper launch but still . Intel has delayed 11th gen till March 2021 so could see current Gen maybe get a price drop is Zen3 beats intel at 1080p gaming

hi,
for the bits i think i need, hoping to keep it around £500~600, willing to go a bit higher if necessary though. thanks for the Zen news.

The UD is a bit weak on the Vrm especially if planning to overclock.

yeah, be a few days till i have money anyways :-D

on the topic of that mobo, what are boards w/ built-in wifi generally like? i'd have thought they wouldn't have much of an aerial to get a decent reception. i just use a plug-in USB one at the mo, would using the mobo be of any benefit?

@Joxeon ~ cheers mate. no plans to overclock, the CPU and the GTX are as good as i'll need.

One above is a solid performing mobo with highest WiFi standard so far, but your router might be that standard as of yet .

These tend to be better standards then USB ones , and the aerial is attached via wire so can be placed in a good location
