Ive been, well my parents have been with Sky for 2 years now to reduce the bill for calls and TV. Anyway ive just moved back after Uni (used to my 50mb virgin and missing it already).

Its a Sky Connect package and tbh its terrible its ment to be a 8mg package (i will do a quiet line test in the next few days, just to make sure the phones not playing me). But here is my speed, currently have one webpage open and mIRC;

lol, i will do a test tommorow morning to compare, but this is terrible.

this is what is avalible at my exchange i live on the west side of my town. Ive been told by multiple people to keep away from talk talk but recommended ADSL24.

I need a decent ADSL package with phone calls package and a ISP that lets me use my own modem!

Cheers

On the Router status page. Also check the setup. it's possible that your parents are being traffic managed but aren't aware of it. Personally I'd say LLU>Any BT Wholesale based service.

I have to say, MissCheif isn't too wrong. Depending on your distance from the exchange you may get anywhere from 10-20mbit/s with TalkTalk as they are using ADSL2+

My mother used them and had no issues, but then she is neither a gamer or a downloader.

The trouble is, that with TalkTalk you are instantly in a 12 month contract (may even be 18 you know), which is what would put me off more than their age old reputation.

I guess you could try them and then cancel within 14 days or whatever the cool-off period/distance selling regs allow, should it be crap.

a friend of mine who lived on the same road was with ADSL24 for afew years, he would get a constant 8mg and no traffic shaping.

Sky Connect is almost criminally bad, contention is nowhere near that of their LLU. I'd much rather they charged more in connect areas rather than let service quality suffer.

Anyway I moved to Xilo who have been awesome. One month contracts too.

TitanADSL we use them at work pretty good.

They have a wholesale link on the talk talk network for their phone and broadband combined services.

Or you can get their standard 100GB monthly rolling contract package by itself.

Sky llu is very good, connect is awful,

Sky connect allowances
1.3Gb per day
9Gb per week
40Gb per month.

The allowance doesn't even take into effect the fair use policy
Or traffic throttelling if you do ever manage to use more than
Above allowance

Try using youtube or similar after 5pm til 11pm, useless.

Its nice having the whole tv phone bb in 1 bill, but id get rid of the connect asap.

im going to request my MAC from sky asap, then see what Xilo and ADSL24 can offer me. Atm Xilo is looking like the cheapest.
