Spec me a new MMORPG

Its a good time to play Rift, I reccomend simply buying the base game (and expansion but see if it hooks you first) and not subscribing.

You will then have premium and unlike other games it doesn't feel limited in any major way :D

Try Marvel Heroes. The launch wasn't brillant, but they've improved it lots and are really good at implementing player feedback. I've also got my own guild, 2 max lvl'd heroes and i'll give ya some help xD its the better Diablo in my opinion and the fact David Brevik is director/ceo :P

in-game name - CoreBounty

I'd wait for the next wave like someone said unless you go with a f2p one.
There's not really anything worth playing right now

Put about 2.5 hours into rift

IDK what the hell is going on, but I think I'm having fun lol

Reminds me of EQ a bit...

I Think I'll have to do a bit of reading about some things before I hit it again :S

Not really an MMORPG though.

Star wars the old republic is awesome, The whole game is voice acted, The individual class stories are awesome, But remember, F2P in SWTOR is really only an extended trial, After about a month of being max level you will need to subscribe otherwise you will find a great many restrictions.

Rift - Great leveling experience / lore (dead end game - lack of players)
WoW - Great all rounder depending on server
Guild Wars 2 - love or hate game (end game is cosmetic only)
Tera - Get a guild and its amazing the combat system is by far best on any game (lack of content end game and sucks solo)
SWTOR - takes forever unless you pay for xp boosts but fantastic PVP and lore
Neverwinter - cool gfx, nice lore, pay to win makes it fail endgame
Defiance - awesome lore. boring as **** on your own and pay to win

Played all to max level and my favourite is still wow

Enjoying Final Fantasy 14 at the moment. Looks very pretty, nice character customisation. seems to be quite in depth but combat can be quite slow depending on your class.

Does EVE Online count?

I started a 21 day trial this month and find it very interesting. The amount of stuff to read about is huge and the football manager in me loves all the spreadsheets :)

It does seem a little costly but I like the idea that you can fairly quickly get to producing enough in-game cash to buy game time. Also, the swindling sounds great hehe (until I get swindled).

I'm liking RIFT quite a lot at the moment.

Dunno if it'll be a long term thing, but its kept the MMO bug at bay for the time being :)

Always surprises me how not many people recommend Lotro. Its been going since 2007, has awesome eye candy and what better story line. A new expansion is due to hit in November - Helms Deep. I don't know if I am bias but I have played so many other mmo's but Lotro is the only one I ever go back to and imo its one of the best mmo's.
