hi guys i need a new monitor asap as i was using a tv which is now broken my price limit is around £600 not looking for 4k

If you want to stay on the TV side of things, then I'd recommend the Sony KDL42W705B or KDL42W653A. They're pretty much the same, the first one is from 2014, the second is from 2013. Whichever you can find, it's all good. Those two models are currently the input lag champions in HDTV side, and they should be good for computer usage, too. Even for gaming. Though they require a 1m viewing distance, at minimum.
But if you're looking for a PC monitor for general desktop stuff, then maybe the
BenQ BL3200PT for £530
or
Asus PB278Q for £480
or
Dell UltraSharp U2713HM for £450
or quite a bit cheaper
Asus SonicMaster MX279H for £276
For hardcore gaming:
BenQ XL2720Z for £360
or
EIZO Foris FG2421 for £400
Then there's also the upcoming Asus ROG Swift PG278Q for £720.
Note: There have been some quality/warranty issues with the Asus PB278Q and Dell U2713HM, so consider yourself warned.
TL;DR:
Personally, I'd go for the Sony KDL42W705B. If that doesn't entice you, then next would be the Asus SonicMaster MX279H.
