Spec me a new monitor please? proper HDR, 4k, >32", >120Hz

Well monitors are generally produced in standard sizes of 24", 27", 32" and your requested greater than 32" 4K (16:9) usually ends up in the 40-43" range.

My mistake then. I should have said 32" or larger. I don't mind windscreen so there are 35" and 38" included as well.

I would hang on till after they standardise what 10bit and 8bit really are because you buy a 10bit HDR panel which really isn't its just 8bit with some fancy names to up it. I believe LG have soon to announce something in the 35" range.

Ya right now there are no 32" 4K high refresh rate monitor on the horizon. They've been talking about it for a while, including mini-LED back-light, but nothing has ever materialized.

If you want 16:9, then your options are zero, until the aforementioned Acer (and Asus) 43" 4K monitors are released. If you would consider 1440p Ultrawide (21:9) though, you would have better luck there, or there is the 38" 144Hz LG 38GL950G also due in September, which is again 21:9, but at a higher resolution of 3840x1600.

You should keep in mind PPI though. At 43" the PPI of a 4K screen is actually marginally worse (albeit imperceptible) than a 34"/38" Ultrawide. Sat from the same distance, 4K won't actually look any sharper than the 34"/38" (yet it will be harder to drive).

The Acer/Asus 43" 4K monitors do seem to be quite different beasts than most of the ultrawides on the market though, which are IPS and lack decent HDR implementation, vs the Acer/Asus which will be VA panels and HDR-1000 (albeit minus FALD). Again, another consideration perhaps. There is also the Asus PG35VQ and AOC AG353UCG, which are 35" Ultrawides with VA panels, G-Sync and HDR-1000. Worth keeping on eye on as well. This year should prove interesting for monitor releases. :)

Thanks for that. Amazing things ahve hardly moved on in several years. Sure I have had my 4k 32" 60Hz screen for 4 years now. Had hoped there would be something superior out by now.

You've got no idea how little monitor tech has advanced in last dozen years...
We're still stuck in scrappy LCDs design with problems of separate back light and light controlling element.
We don't even have A-TW polarizer IPS panels.
Even Samsung's current "QLED" hype is just lipstick on a same old pig.

And high refresh rate 4K monitors are still basically MIA and maybe we'll have some real choise next winter.
Also you don't want to chain yourselves to be Nvidia's slave with G-Sync.
AMD should be bringing completely new GPU architecture next winter and also Intel is joining discrete GPU game next year.

Ya the computer display industry is one of the most frustrating aspects of new technology.
