Hey Chaps,

After my recent BTC win, I took a look at my old decathlon mountain bike sat outside, and thought.. I can't ride that thing, it will kill me. Wanting to get a new mountain bike to eventually take on trails with but we're a fair way off getting there yet as I've got a fair few lbs to lose before, lest I become one of the most momentum-filled (F=ma) things on 2 wheels. For the first 6 months, it's likely just me biking to work on the paths, roads, and the odd trip around the grassy/muddy reservoir we have near our house.

Don't want to spend lots of money and I think its a hardtail I'm after. Mainly as anything other is going to be too expensive. Like I said, I'm pretty heavy set, so something that isn't made for you size 8's would be great.

The budget is £600, can go over slightly, be nice to go under though so I can buy more pies.

Similar position recently and ended up with a Vitus Nucleus VR. I'm currently 185cm and 103kg so not a small fella, and I've had no issues so far at least.

Seems to be constantly reviewed as one of the best value for money options in that it's well specced out with decent components generally, plus a modern geometry. Now the price has gone up recently, likely due to demand still outstripping supply, but that's an issue across the industry as a whole.
