Hi, currently have logitech G5 which i love but its sadly dying:(
the cable now got a kink in it and cuts out when i dont want it too.

ive seen the G500 which is very similar, but is there anything better that i should go for? reasons why its better would be nice to (not just bcos it is!!)

Thanks Ali

EDIT: i dont like the "cyborg/rat" style mice, prefer regular shapes

I dont know much about different mice, I just know I have used Logitech for a while now and never had an issue and the customer support is good.

I agree, ive never had issues with them up until now, i bought it S/H on mm about 2 years ago i think and its been flawless.

although i dont like the new button layout on the G500, seems abit closer together than the G5.

It also depends on your needs... If you play RPG games, you might want to consider something like the g500 which has multiple buttons that are useful for binding.
If you're more of a FPS gamer, i'd suggest focusing on a mouse with fewer buttons which is designed for precision and comfort, such as the razer mamba (if you're willing to spend that much).

should have said in first post!

play games such as mw3, battlefield 3 and likes of, also do a lot of photo editing and general browsing.

wireless would be nice, the g700 looks good but would have to feel in hand to see wat buttons are like, as for the mamba i have used before the death adder so kinda know how they feel.

Had my Razer Deathadder for years - it's the original 1800dpi version - and I can't fault it.

If you have large-ish hands, get a deathadder!

I've got a g500 because I play both types of games (RPG & FPS), works brilliantly for both and is really comfortable.

Logitech just for the epic customer service. Raise a support call for the g5, I expected mine was out of warranty, raised a ticket asking for cost of repair and they sent me a brand new g500, this was in November 2011. Worth a go, if out of support sometimes they offer money off next Logitech mouse.

worth ago.

I recently bought both the Logitech G13 Gameboard and the Logitech G700 mouse together for my new gaming rig. . . the best keyboard/mouse combi I have ever used!! a highly respected +1 for the G700.

I found razer to be poor quality, had a mamba, faulty wheel 9 months in, had a deathadder, faulty wheel 6 months in, never buying razer again, using a rat 5 at the moment and am pleased with it, quality is a lot better.
