Hi All,

My old Lenovo desktop has had it now and it's not worth me spending any more money on it.

I am looking to build a new desktop which will be used for office work(Microsoft office suite), photo editing but primarily gaming(BF3 & MW3 are my next purchases).

I don't need an OS as I already have Windows 7 and I don't need a monitor. I will be using my Panasonic TX-L32S10 as my monitor so I will need a graphics card which will allow me to use that.

Budget : I would say £400-£500.

Thanks in advance.

The card says it has a mini HDMI output, but you will need to find an adapter to convert to normal HDMI or something.

Search for "mini hdmi to hdmi"

Hi stulid, thanks for that.

Just a couple of questions- I have a Hiper 530W Black Type-R Modular PSU - SLI Certified with Active PFC which is in mint condition. Am I able to use this with your setup?

Also what settings(med/high) do you think I will be able to use on BF3/MW3 with the graphics card you have selected?

Thanks

afaik, those hiper psu's are well know for blowing up, its so common that theres actually a "club" dedicated to people who had the psu blow up on them.

no one knows the system requirements for BF3 or MW3 yet, but a gtx460 paired with an i5 2500k should still be able to handle games at high settings

Yes you can use the PSU, they do deteriorate over time though.

As for the cards performance? its impossible for me to say without the game being reviewed.

But you can get an idea of where the card fits in with other cards at just over HD 1080p resolutions here - http://www.guru3d.com/article/vga-charts-spring-2011/2 - more money buys more power.

If you keep your PSU,

That's great cheers, I may just buy a new PSU, at least I will have some form of warranty.

Can anyone recommend a good quality CPU cooler to go with this setup?

Cheers
